Manufacturer Dealer Extranet Survey Results 2002
Global and national manufacturers are demonstrating an increased need for an easy and convenient way of staying in touch with their vendors, partners, and dealers.
Secure partner extranets are oftentimes the best solution. While many companies offer e-commerce and online financial services, many are still in the throws of determining exactly what features they need and want to be electronically accessible.
In order to understand the business-to-business needs of manufacturers, Emercent Solutions conducted a survey. Survey participants included CIOs and Vice Presidents, Directors and Managers of IS, IT, e-Business and Technology, within the construction and agriculture equipment, trucking, boating, recreational vehicle and all-terrain vehicle manufacturing industries.
The survey results indicate that manufacturers are increasingly using extranet technologies to enhance communication amongst vendors, dealers and customers. Half of manufacturers have or are in the process of employing a dealer or partner extranet, with others recognizing a need in the future. The study indicates what features are the driving forces behind extranet implementation and what aspects need fine-tuning.
The industry leaders surveyed said they employ dealers to help sell their products.
